The Challenge
Cerebrum is a deep and highly capable broadcast control system. It can be configured to run a facility in almost any way a team needs, and that flexibility is the point of it. The more an operator knows about the system, the more they can get out of it, which makes good training worth investing in.
EVS wanted to complement their programme with trainers who are currently working in live broadcast, so that operators could learn the system alongside the situations it gets used in. They approached us to deliver Cerebrum training on that basis: practical, hands-on, and grounded in how the system behaves when a show is on air.
The Solution
Our consultants work on some of the world’s biggest broadcasts, and they teach from that experience. Sessions run as working problem-solving rather than lectures, built around the systems and workflows each client actually operates. Ground covered typically includes:
- Custom workflows built for specific production requirements
- Complex signal routing, managed rather than merely explained
- Rapid troubleshooting under realistic pressure
- System performance when a show is live and something goes wrong
Because the trainers are practising engineers, questions get answered against real situations. If an operator asks what happens when a particular path fails mid-show, someone in the room has usually had it happen.
The Result
EVS clients report higher system utilisation, more confident operators, and better preparedness when something goes wrong mid-broadcast.
The work has run since 2025 and continues. We now deliver Cerebrum training on behalf of EVS worldwide, for clients across Europe, the USA and APAC, adapting each programme to the facility and the team in front of us. Because our consultants are still working on live broadcasts between sessions, the training keeps pace with how the systems are used in practice.
